The Haukadalur valley is also a great place to get to know the beautiful countryside of southern Iceland.
There are several walking trails in the Haukdalsskógur forest. The trails are marked and there are informative signs telling you about the species of tree found in the forest.
In winter it is the perfect terrain for cross-country skiing.
At the entrance to the forest there is sign with a map of the different trails.
There are excellent picnic facilities, including a barbecue, picnic tables, benches and WC.
